Today is 10 July 2014.
We've been living in northern California for over 2 years now. In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, in a town called Nevada City with its sister city, Grass Valley. We sure have been enjoying the weather and climate and friendly community of an American small town. Mild winters and hot summers; farmers markets; two "ashrams" (Sivananda and Ananda); and many 'alternative' life-stylers here.
For the most part, I have been attending school, studying a dear subject I've dabbled with for 20 years - Ayurveda. Living in an older cottage in Nevada City, with my daughter and her "Buns", her mini Rex-satin bunny rabbit.
I have not blogged much, but I have not travelled much either!! Just a trip to Alaska recently, and to Hawaii and Thailand in January and February of this year.
We've met some new friends in the area, but there's nothing quite like old friends either! I am lucky to be close to two college friends from twenty years ago, they both live about an hour away. Also, slowly but surely I am making my Kodiak connections in the area.....that is to say people who lived in Kodiak at one time or even grew up there and have now transplanted elsewhere. I have been fortunate enough to find them or they find me! Nothing like a "Long, lost Kodiak connection"!
Things are in great transition for me right now, however, I am not only positive, but I am excited to have change! Its been interesting living in small town America in the "Lower 48", but I am not exactly sure it is for me! I have a U.S. passport but I am most certainly Alaskan and a Citizen of the Earth, not confining myself to just being American - no way!! That would be far too limiting in my world. Being July, the month of American's independence, I am most certainly proud to be where I'm from, born and grew up, but am even more proud to say I am a World Citizen. Why should there be so many boundaries and borders!? We are all people of the earth, we are all humans, with more similarities than differences.
If you read this please remember I am in transition at this time and keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much, I would love to hear from you~ Dayna
